The Kennedy Elementary School
staff would like to invite you to our Kennedy Elementary School Dance Residency
Performances - Water Bridges: Connecting Environmental Advocacy, Arts, and Academics. There
will be two evening performances at Kennedy Elementary School, 3901 Randolph
Rd, Janesville, WI in their Performing Arts Center at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30
p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2014.
Kennedy Elementary students
will be showcasing their original choreography and the work they have done with
our visiting dance artist-in-residence. Throughout the residency,
students will have used dance as a unique vehicle to integrate many academic
subject areas and to embrace 21st Century Learning skills such as creativity
and critical-thinking.
During the residency
performances, we also will be featuring components of an International Bridges Project,
which focuses on integrating math, science and engineering.
Bridges will serve as set
design and props for the performances. The students worked with our art
teacher, Karen Smerlinski, to create and build the bridges from designs that
were created in collaboration and with the support of local businesses and a
City of Janesville engineer.
We look forward to seeing you at the
performance. The experience will culminate with two all-school
performances at Kennedy Elementary School, 3901 Randolph Rd., on the evening of
January 23, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. and
7:30 p.m. Please mark your calendars!
